Very popular in the shop of late is our HONESTLY Lasagna, which we make and cook on site for you to take away and heat. It’s sold by the portion so whether its just for you or for you and 200 mates, we can knock it out in any size.
We’re working on a range of hot takeaway meals at the moment as well as a few suprises which we’ll be annoucing next week. Any suggestions for stuff we could cook are always welcome!
Jam but not as you know it!
New at the HONEST food company is a range of superb jams and chutneys, sourced locally from our friends at McBride & Flynn.
They’re all made in Kinsale, just down the road and hands down we’ve never tasted jams that are so yummy. They are just like your mum used to make and when you open the jar, its hard to believe that they werent made fresh that morning.
Have a look at the varieties currently available at HONEST HQ.
- Mixed Berry jam with cracked Black Pepper & Kirsch
- Mango & Chilli Jam (Our favourite)
- Handcut Sweet Tomato Chutney
- Lemon & Orange Marmalade
- Strawberry & Orange Marmalade with Grand Marnier
The full range was just voted number 17 in Food & Wine Magazine’s Top 100 things to watch out for in 2009. More than that the guys who make them really have a thing for jam, a jam fetish almost and have quickly become good buddies with Team HONEST. Watch this space for more developments.
Meet Marley! Marley is the newest addition to the HONEST HQ team. He arrived today and frankly reduced the entire staff to a morning of oohs and aahhs!
Marley and his Dad
He knows already that he’s not allowed into the bakery or any of the foods areas but he’s dead content to sit out on the balcony and guard us from any attacks or invasions. Plus he’s an incredibly environmental friendly way to get rid of any leftover sausage rolls.
Marleys a newfoundland puppy, aparently the David Hasslehoff of puppies. They’re trained rescue dogs who can swim for miles and even tow rafts and dingies. Check out youtube for plenty of cool videos of them.
So we found a few photos of last nights dinner at the KYC.. They’re pretty rubbish really.
Andy hanging out with the ladies..
Terry, being a Diva, demands a photo of his own!
The Very Fancy Table
Sometimes after watching Andy and his team spend seven to ten hours making sausage rolls and cupcakes you start to think, “Maybe we could save money by training monkeys to make this stuff? It’s not that hard!”
Then you get asked to cook and serve a six course banquet for the past commodores of one of the finest yacht clubs in the country, the pressure is put on and you realise just want a talented bunch of chef monkeys you already have working here.
Not only were the guests at this years Kinsale Yacht Club Commodore’s Dinner blown away, most of the non-chefs at the HONEST food company were mind boogled by the sheer genius of the food served over the four hours of service.
To give you an idea, the menu included;
- Minted Baby New Potato Bruchetta topped with Irish Goats Cheese and served with a Warm Rocket Salad
- Cappuccino of Wild Mushroom & Truffle Oil Soup finished with a Parmesan Biscuit
- Grilled Sea Bass served on a Colcannon Potato Cake drizzled with a Mixed Herb Pesto.
- Whole Roast Poussain Dinner with a selection of Roasted Seasonal Vegetables & Cranberry Jam
- Lemon & Orange Tart
- Arisan Irish Cheeseboard
No words can do it justice. It was one of those nights where professional photography was badly needed.
Karen, the cupcake queen was off on Monday so Andy and Donal had a go at decorating the cupcakes.
We dont think that the lads did a bad job.
So its a very busy weekend ahead! Loads and loads of parties, loads of sailing at the yacht club and loads of relatives visiting so we’ll have to make a few changes to our normal opening hours at the bakery.
